David is a very experienced international business manager with a long track record of managing different types of companies in the UK and overseas. He has extensive experience of managing complex commercial projects to successful conclusions, including company launches, acquisitions and disposals across multiple business sectors, and has led numerous business turnaround challenges with improved results being sustained for many years.

Background experience

During a varied and successful 27-year career with Shell, David ran businesses ranging in size from £2m to £2bn pa and in numerous markets including specialist technical, global commodities, transportation, financial products and forestry plantations. His business challenges varied from trying to break into new markets to the problems associated with turning around businesses in mature markets. He’s had to cope with more than one market in meltdown!

Later in his Shell career David developed considerable experience in Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestments leading numerous projects, large and small, to buy or sell strategic assets and companies.

David became an independent consultant in 2004 and since then has helped many types of client with their business challenges.  In the course of this work he has:

  • developed new business strategies and aligned boards around them
  • planned and executed company sales
  • re-vitalised under-performing operations
  • built practical plans for acquiring competitors
  • helped launch a successful high-tech start-up company.

EMC Helps Genesis Move Down Under
As Part Of
A$150m Deal

The Eastbourne-based Genesis Forwarding Group has been acquired by the giant Australian Toll Group in a A$150 million double deal also involving the WT Sea Air Group based in Harmondsworth, Middlesex.

Genesis was advised on the sale by EMC Corporate Finance chief executive Nik Askaroff who has had a ten-year relationship with the company as both a non-executive director and mergers and acquisitions adviser.
