David is an accountant with a strong commercial background in industry and commerce. He has board level and general management experience and a proven track record in large commercial organisations which he has transferred successfully to the SME sector. His recent experience in the services sector enhances EMC’s strength in this field and, combined with his knowledge of the construction industry, gives him an invaluable insight into the total facilities management market place.

Prior to EMC
David joined Shell UK shortly after leaving school where he undertook his accountancy training. After four years he left to pursue a career in the overseas sector with Costain Construction and was resident in the United Arab Emirates for three years. David then spent five years with an international trading and construction group travelling extensively to Africa and the Middle East.
Feeling that he needed to further his experience of the home market, he joined the OCS Group, one of the UK's leading facilities management companies, where he gained experience in a number of operating companies as well as the group head office. This culminated in six years board-level experience with three diverse operating companies with a combined turnover of £40m. Following the successful creation of a blueprint shared service centre for the Group, David moved on to pursue a career within the SME sector.
Recent Assignments
- Acquisition of a specialist building services company, including post-acquisition management and integration.
- Interim MD of a building maintenance company.
- Interim turnaround assignment with a £12m turnover engineering company.
- Part-time financial director/ financial controller with a small construction group.
General Background
David was born and educated in London and has lived in Bexley for a number of years. His hobbies include overseas travel, theatre and cinema and current and business affairs. A keen sportsman, he enjoys swimming and orienteering. He is a season ticket holder at Arsenal FC and a member of Surrey County Cricket Club. He is also actively involved in local voluntary work, and serves as a Trustee of a national charity.
