Julian Clay 07775 513770 julian.clay@emcltd.co.uk Julian is highly motivated and experienced sales professional who has helped many SMEs to grow their businesses through his close involvement with every part of the sales and marketing process. He has also worked as an interim sales director in the construction industry. He has worked with companies of many different sizes to help them meet a variety of sales-related challenges. He is able to work with a sales team to provide solutions which produce a stable, effective and profitable sales operation. He is also the author of two books on selling techniques and sales management, and is currently co-writing a book on how SME owners can look at ways to improve their understanding of the challenges faced by different board director roles. Euan Clarke

Euan is an educationalist with a long and distinguished teaching career in the independent sector, including headships at both Monkton Combe Junior School, Bath, and Dorset House School, Pulborough, West Sussex.

His own education was at Harrow Schoool and University College Oxford where he won a rugby blue in 1973 before graduating with an Honours Degree in Modern History.

Having gained his PGCE with distinction, he joined Eastbourne College in 1976 and taught history at all levels, including Oxbridge entrance, while also coaching rugby, cricket and fives.

In 1994 he moved to Bath to become Head at Monkton Combe, responsible for the academic and pastoral welfare of pupils in the Junior School, and for preparation for ISJC, DSS and OFSTED inspections. He was also a member of the School Executive and Development Committees. 

Euan moved back to Eastbourne following a family illness in 1998 and took up a post with St Andrew’s School teaching scholarship history, PHSE and RS. 

Seven years later, he was appointed Head at Dorset House School, a position he held until 2008 when he again returned to live in Eastbourne. He now undertakes A level and GCSE tuition, HM mentoring and appraisal, and school inspections, as well as working for the Children on the Edge Charity and serving as a lay member of the Medical Training Board.

Jim Ferguson

Jim is an educationalist with a background in school management as an Assistant Head teacher, Deputy Head teacher and Head of School. Working closely with governors and senior colleagues in a variety of schools, Jim has led a wide range of teams effectively in order to turn vision and plans into ambitious but achievable objectives with the aim of assuring continuous improvement and the raising of the school profile and prominence in their respective communities. Jim can offer advice on staffing restructuring opportunities, school website efficacy and the cost-effective use of ICT including one-to-one technologies.

He is a strategic thinker and is fully aware of the dynamics at play at any given time within schools and externally and his understanding of the wider educational world means he is able to advise on future direction through a fast-paced environment. Together with strong analytical skills Jim is able to offer counsel and support with reference to managing resources, working with the governing body and the development of leadership capacity in schools.

Recent Accomplishments

Jim is quick to recognise opportunities and was part of a team which recently was able to turn a school deficit budget into a £3million surplus by negotiating the sale of a redundant school farm for the construction of residential housing.

Jim also has experience of PFI and was part of a multi-agency team which successfully project managed the £18 million re-build of a large secondary school from conception, selection of preferred bidder to construction and the administration of the decanting processes.

General Background

Jim was educated at Barnard Castle Grammar School and completed his training at The University of Reading. He gained a Masters Degree in Education Management (London), a Business Management Diploma (Canterbury) before successfully completing a further Masters Degree in Education Research at Durham University. Jim enjoys horseracing and is the father of twin girls, both employed as professional jockeys. Jim also has two sons, one who has just circumnavigated the world in his gap year and the other has recently made him a very proud grandfather.

Jake Judd

Jake is the founder and creative director of web design, e-marketing and advertising agency Judd Associates, formed in 1994 and our chosen creative services industry partner. Over the years Jake has helped to design and build imaginative and informative websites for a number of independent schools, as well as undertake campaigns designed to build awareness and student numbers.

In his 20-plus years in the advertising and communications business, Jake has also worked for many of Europe’s leading household brands including the highest levels of direct contact within corporations such as Gallaher, Quaker Oats, Ahold, Sun Microsystems and in Chicago USA with Pepsi Co, Jim Beam, and Helene Curtis amongst others.

Jake’s philosophy of approaching all advertising and design challenges with ingenious, creative lateral thinking remains central to Judd Associates’ highly regarded creative output.

Daniel Shearing

Daniel Shearing is, quite simply, one of the best school photographers in the country. For over 15 years he has worked with a variety of educational establishments across the UK, capturing their spirit, ethos and energy. His natural, insightful imagery reflects the unique qualities that make each school special.
