All Blacks legend kicks off rugby world cup in style

The latest event in an action-packed programme for Sussex cricketer Luke Wright’s benefit year saw All Black rugby legend Doug Howelett entertain a large gathering at Brighton’s Hotel du Vin for a Rugby World Cup preview dinner.

Events still to come include a special screening of the England v Australia rugby match on 3 October with dinner at the Hotel du Vin in the presence of Luke and friends; dinner at the celebrated Quaglinos restaurant in Mayfair pn 7 October with special guests Doug Howlett, BBC Test Match Special commentator Jonathan Agnew, former England cricket coach Peter Moores and England rugby star Danny Cipriani; lunch at Eastbourne’s five-star Grand Hotel on 30 October with Luke and ex-England captain Alec Stewart; and an end-of-year lunch at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, on 26 November which will be joined by England’s Stuart Broad whose charity, The Broad Appeal, has been one of the beneficiaries of the fund-raising year.
