Brighton event for family business owners
EMC and Close Brothers Asset Management will host an evening networking event for family business owners at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, on 12 February.
Starting at 6.30pm and running through until 9.30pm, the event will highlight and celebrate the important role that family businesses play in the UK economy. It will give people ample opportunity to mix with other family business owners, discuss the challenges they face moving forward and enjoy drinks and canapés in a relaxed environment.
Guest speaker will be Charlie Field, director of Sussex-based CPJ Field & Co, a family business celebrating its 325th anniversary this year. He will share his story and insights into life in one of the UK’s oldest family firms.
EMC’s Nik Askaroff said: “Family businesses are the cornerstone of the UK economy. There are three million privately-held family firms, and the top 20 alone turned over £49.2bn in 2014.
“There are large numbers of very successful family-run enterprises in Brighton and East Sussex and this will be a great opportunity for the owners to get together in a social atmosphere to talk about the sort of threats, opportunities and challenges they’re facing.”
