Desmond Gets a Thank-You from Bumble

EMC Kent Director Desmond High has been officially recognised for his outstanding services to grassroots cricket.

Desmond, who coaches at Linton Park Cricket Club near Maidstone, was presented with a certificate by Sky Sports commentator and former England player and coach David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd during the 4th npower Test against India at the Kia Oval.

He was one of more than 100 people nationally to be given coaching ‘reward and recognition’ certificates as part of the Sky Sports ECB Coach Education Programme.

Desmond started helping with the Linton Park CC U11 age group coaching in 2002 and has subsequently taken responsibility for coaching and managing the different age group sides at his club, including the U13 & U15 sides.

He took over the management responsibilities for Linton Park colts section in 2007, and since then has taken on the job of overseeing all of the evening and weekend coaching sessions. In 2009 he identified the need for an U9s team and oversaw its inception. He has also occasionally managed older age group sides such as the U17s.

The Sky Sports ECB Coach Education Programme aims to attract and train coaches at all levels of cricket in England and Wales. Since the beginning of Sky’s sponsorship in 2007, over 33,000 coaches have gone through the scheme, more than triple the original target. For every professional cricketer in England and Wales, there are now over 100 grass root coaches.
