EMC helps IEP Financial to secure growth investment

EMC Corporate Finance is delighted to announce that it has advised IEP Financial Limited (‘IEP’) and its shareholders on the minority investment by Blacksmith and Brigantine.

IEP is a leading Brighton and Hove headquartered independent financial advisory firm with clients across London and the South East.  Ian Poysden, Chairman, initially engaged EMC’s Nik Askaroff in 2015 to act as a non executive to advise on strategy and growth.  Earlier in 2020 the Board took the decision to seek outside investment to support their growth plans that EMC were retained to lead on their behalf. After huge interest the process culminated in the investment in the Group by Blacksmith and Brigantine.

Blacksmith & Brigantine Ltd (B&B) is the UK Commercial Insurance Broker subsidiary of Spain’s Grupo Herrero Brigantine headquartered in Madrid. Grupo Herrero Brigantine are expanding their operation throughout Europe and the US. The investment will not only allow IEP Financial to grow strongly but also to benefit from the back up and support of a significant international Group.

Ian Poysden, chairman of IEP Financial commented “I think that this is a fantastic partnership to help grow our business during our next phase and we are delighted to have them on as a shareholder. This certainly establishes our position and strength in the market which is vital to us and all of our clients.

Working with Nik and the wider EMC team over the past few years has certainly accelerated our growth and transformed the shareholder value, as well as maintaining focus on the day-to-day fundamentals of client delivery and support”

David Gonzales, Managing Director of Blacksmith and Brigantine, will join the IEP Board. He said “This alliance reaffirms our commitment to continue expanding our presence in the UK market and I am sure that we have found the best companion. IEP financial is a formidable company and this is a remarkable opportunity for our Group and our clients. We are going to achieve great things together”

Nik Askaroff added “we are very proud to have worked with IEP Financial over a number of years and this investment sets the foundation for what looks like a very rosy future.”

IEP Fiancial Limited was advised by EMC Corporate Finance (Team: Nik Askaroff and Ryan Smith) acting as Lead Advisers. Irwin Mitchell (Team: Bryan Bletso, Jeff Carvell) acting as Legal Advisers.
