EMC helps to celebrate the best of Sussex’s food and drink industry

The annual Celebration of Sussex Life Awards champion the very best that the county’s food, drink, hospitality and retail industries have to offer.

And this year, EMC is proud to be a part of it.

Through our specialist Food and Drink Division, headed by Andy Crumpton, we are sponsoring the Food and Drink Product of the Year category of the awards which are now in their fifth year.

The award will celebrate the best home-grown or home-produced products from the county, whether from a literal cottage industry selling to its surrounding area, or a major UK brand created in Sussex.

The category is a perfect fit for Andy who is renowned throughout the industry as a pioneer. In his 30-year career he has been responsible for introducing both ‘Smoothie’ and ‘Free From’ product categories to the UK, project managing the launch of a Heston Blumenthal range with Waitrose and developing the first pre-packed meat products for sale through supermarket chiller cabinets;

He said: “We are fortunate in Sussex to have a large number of enterprising food and drink businesses – the vast majority of them SMEs – who contribute greatly to the region’s economy. The Celebration of Sussex Life Awards provide a great showcase for them and we are delighted to be a part of it.”

The awards, organised by Sussex Life magazine, will be presented at the Grand Hotel, Brighton, on 25 October.

Andy, as head of EMC’s Food and Drink Division, is available to help the owners of food sector businesses identify and exploit market gaps and opportunities, develop their existing brands, determine and define their business vision, and grow in the UK and beyond.

He said: “I enjoy using the experience, knowledge and contacts I have gained over more than three decades in the industry to help businesses meet the challenges of these uncertain times and turn their ideas into profitable and sustainable reality.”
