Growth Accelerator client wins top Medway business award

Elsatex Ltd, one of EMC’s Growth Accelerator clients, was named Business of the Year in the 29th annual Medway Business Awards.
The company, based in Priory Road, Strood, was formed in 2008 by husband and wife team Stephen and Anny Lowe. It supplies textiles such as towels and tea towels to health clubs, hospitals, retailers and overseas customers.
Following the awards ceremony, Stephen paid tribute to the contribution played by EMC director and Growth Accelerator coach Martin Stanton.
He said: “We are very grateful for the coaching / mentoring / training we have received under which our young staff have flourished. I have seen massive tangible benefits for the business in terms of productivity and self-confidence.
“We are looking to grow from £5m to £10m over the next three years. With five staff members whose average age is in the low 20s this is a tough task. I am, however, quietly confident that if we can maintain our association with Martin / EMC, we can make best efforts to achieve this.”
So successful has the Growth Accelerator programme been for Elsatex that Oxford Innovation, one of the scheme’s five service leaders, is planning to use it as a case study to promote the scheme to other businesses.
Meanwhile Stephen said the £500 he collected for winning the Business of the Year award will be put towards a staff celebration. “We may go to Paris. It will definitely be an office trip to somewhere,” he said.
