Your opportunity to share experiences with a top entrepreneur

EMC is once again joining forces with Close Brothers Asset Management to host a free Entrepreneurs’ Evening at the Sussex County Cricket Ground, Hove, on 23 January.

Guest speaker is Nigel Jenkins who founded Unijet in 1981 and sold it 17 years later to First Choice Holidays for £110m. He will not only  be sharing how he built and sold his business but also how he has spent his time since retiring at 54 – a challenge many sellers worry about – by investing in and racing classic Ferraris!

Nigel continues to study the classic car market as a hobby and has recently invested in three more cars after achieving a record UK price for his 1967 Ferrari 330GTC at the Goodwood Revival sale. With a return of 18.5% compound over nine years, he remains bullish on the sector.

Joining Nigel at the Hove event will be his son, Howard Jenkins, who has been investing in wine for over 10 years. Having spotted a demand for first growth wines in the Asian market, Howard bought a number from the year 2000, now reputed to be one of the best vintages in recent times. He has traded his wines in search of more value in the market but has kept his best investment, Chateau Latour, which has shown a return of 21.5% compound over 10 years.

As part of the evening, Nigel and Howard will debate whether classic cars or vintage wines offer the best opportunities for investors.
