Michael is an analytical and commercially focused chartered accountant based from our Brighton & Hove office. He is a member of our corporate finance team and joined the EMC board of directors in 2018.
As an EMC director, Michael works as a lead advisor with growing and mature SMEs in the region. Since joining EMC in 2013, initially as head of research, he has worked on over 30 transactions across sectors including publishing, manufacturing, technology and business services.
His recent corporate finance assignments led to him being named Emerging Dealmaker of the Year at the 2020 Insider South East Dealmaker Awards.
Michael is an ACA qualified chartered accountant with previous experience working at an accountancy practice advising owner-managed SMEs in the South East region. During this time, he specialised in financial reporting, tax compliance and management accounting.
At EMC, he brings these skills and experience both to corporate transactions and business advisory, working with SMEs in business planning and financial reporting for both management and statutory purposes.
Michael’s services include:

- Debt and equity fundraising;
- Shareholder exit planning, MBOs and MBIs;
- Company valuation and growth strategy development;
- Business planning and forecasting; and
- Interim financial management, reporting and control.
Michael’s recent transactions include the sale of Kent-headquartered Edgar’s Water to US-based Culligan International and the management buy-out at West Sussex-based Warnes Projects.
